Softball Coaching Techniques – Fear of the Ball and Batting Stance
Here are a couple of softball coaching techniques that I have used successfully with 8U softball players. These are not earth shattering but they work well and address common problems that we as coaches encounter with most younger players.
Drills for Girls Softball – Underhanding the Ball for Force-Out
These drills for girls softball work on the simple task of underhanding the ball to a base for a force-out. The fielding of the ball isn’t what we’re working on here, but the players need to work on the transition between fielding and the throw.
Softball Throwing Drills – Snap and Pop Drill
This is just one of the softball throwing drills that works well with 8U players. I call it the snap and pop drill. I do this to help the kids field the softball, make a quick accurate throw, and move quickly out of the way of play with “as it is called snap and pop”.
Fun Softball Drills – Around the Horn
This is one of the fun softball drills my players love. It’s an easy fun drill to end practice on.
Softball Batting Drills – Cross Over Hit
This is one of the more effective softball batting drills I’ve used with my new players. You’ll be surprised at how quickly their batting skills improve.
