Here are two softball hitting drills I use frequently and the improvements are immediate. I drill my players on how picking the ball up early is the difference in a good hitter and a great hitter.
I started these warm ups for girls softball last year. I was getting tired of watching all the balls go scurrying past the players as they were playing catch in warm-ups during softball practice.
My girls absolutely love this softball drill. These are inside softball drills that many of us need this time of year when the first two to three weeks are often spent inside. We call this one the Mat Drill.
One of the things that our 12 year old kids really like to do are “play” with non-softball equipment. During our indoor sessions, we take practice “swings” with a medicine ball for our indoor softball batting drills.
