Girls Softball Drills – Target Practice

Girls Softball DrillsOne of the areas that I get requests for ideas is for girls softball drills, specifically Teeball.  Read below for a great suggestion on this topic:  I coach Kindergarten/First Grade Teeball for girls.  We spend a lot of time on the fundamentals.  I created a softball drill called – Target Practice.

  • I line up 4 big orange “construction” cones and place big balls resting on top of each cone (soccer balls, basketballs).
  • Have 3 or 4 girls on each side of the cones.
  • One side is throwing softballs to knock down the balls and the other side is  fielding the missed throws.

Then the fielders now have the missed throws and are ready to throw at the targets.  When the players do hit the target, a softball coach is there to replace the ball.  The drill is great because both sides are very active and alert.  Nobody likes a softball in the head!
