Coming up with new ideas for softball drills for girls 10 years old and under can sometimes be a challenge. Here’s a tip that one of the coaches sent to me. Very clever and effective too!
I am a softball coach for 7& 8 girls softball. This is the best softball drill I have found to get them to have the right form in grounding balls.
Tape of heavy type string to their chin, the length varies but about 18-24inches. They must extend their gloves in front of the string to catch the ball. If they get lucky and catch the ball behind the string it is wrong.
They ask how this helps, but you give it a try. It forces the child to extend their glove in front of them and to make the string hang right they must bend at knee and poke out their butt. As they extend their hands they can see the ball into the glove.
The young kids love this drill with their new beards!
