In today’s video blog post, we are demonstrating a fantastic pitching drill using a rope to create a drop line. This is an excellent pitching drill that allows your pitcher to work with a visual of where she wants the ball to drop. The goal of this drill is for the pitcher to throw the drop pitch over the top of the rope and down into the catcher.

Softball Pitching Drill: The Rope Drill

With the rope tied between two metal folding chairs, and setup at approximately a foot in front of the plate, the pitcher will work on the down and in and down and out off of the rope.

The purpose of this drill is to work on getting the perfect top spin breaking over the rope.
