Purpose:
This is an excellent warm-up for outfielders, which also stresses proper fielding mechanics for fly balls.

Setup:
Players get into their outfield positions or form a line in the outfield. Balls can either be hit by a machine or a coach.

Player makes a forehand catch in the outfield.

Instructions:
1. Each ball is hit to the outfielders, who field it using proper technique.
2. Balls should be hit straight to the outfielder as well as to both sides, over their shoulder, and in front.
3. When a fly ball is hit in front of the player, they should dive to catch it, or get it on the short hop to throw a runner out.

Coaching Tips:

• Players should use two hands to catch the ball, except on over-the-shoulder catches which require full extension.
