Gail sent this one to me last week. A great example of [tag]softball coaching drills[/tag] that don’t require a coaching PhD to figure out.
From Gail…
I have adapted a [tag]softball[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag] that I use during INF [tag]drills[/tag].
Players: C, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and SS are all in their positions.
Ball begins with the C who [tag]throws[/tag] down to 2nd with the 2nd basewoman covering (game like situation), who then throws to the 3rd base who is moving back to make a sweeping tag.
She then comes up throwing over to 1st, 1st then throws to 2nd with the SS coming over to 2nd and the SS is quick to react and makes the throw back to home where the C is putting a tag on a sliding[tag]runner[/tag].
The key to this drill is having everyone move like a “game situation” to cover and place tags in correct positions.
I call this my “Kite Drill” If you were to draw it out it resembles a kite.
