I find that the traditional wisdom on [tag]coaching a softball team[/tag] can be a bit stale.   Here’s an idea from Alicia that has livened things up quite a bit in my practices.Coaching a Softball Team

From Alicia…
At our high school, the Junior Varsity and the Varsity teams [tag]practice[/tag] at the same times but on different fields.

We have established a competition over the years between the two teams.

At the start of [tag]softball[/tag] [tag]practice[/tag], the first team to have everyone dressed and ready, out on the field with all equipment ready to go gets to pick a [tag]drill[/tag] or running event for the other team to do after stretching.
This has made a huge difference in the beginning of our practices.   The two teams are out on the field and set up even before the [tag]coaches[/tag] can get out there.

It put an end to any of the players who drag their feet or always seem to be late.
