If you’re looking for some new ideas for [tag]softball practice[/tag], try these [tag]free softball coaching drills[/tag] below.   They work on several areas that you want your players to improve and they have fun at the same time.

One of my favorites: Have the girls line up 5 in a row, hit the [tag]softball[/tag] and yell a No. 1-5. The number yelled must field the ball.

Or have the girls pair up and practice fielding over the base line, throwing the ball back and forth to each other making sure they are down on the ball with their gloves over the line.

I don’t know if anyone else has this problem with their young players. We have a problem with our young girls not stepping straight while we are trying to get them hit up the middle.   They always want to step out to third base.

We got a foam tube swimming float and place it behind their feet (so if they step out and step on it they won’t trip) to teach them to step out straight towards the pitcher.   Just a small idea to help them learn to step out straight and not out towards third base.
