Chris in Boston sent this one to me.   Great [tag]free softball drills[/tag] that don’t require a coaching PhD to figure out.

This is a combination [tag]softball drill[/tag] and game/relay race I use for AA and AAA ( 8 – 12 yrs ). The kids love it because they are competing and it creates a pressure situation for the drill. The kids have to handle the ball cleanly and make an accurate throw. This is great for in the gym when spring has not yet arrived.Free Softball Drills

Divide the team in half and give each team a funny name. Each team forms a line at one end of the gym and are separated by 20 or 30′. In a straight line each kid will run to the opposite end of the gym and touch the wall ( and remain), thus releasing to next kid in line. At the halfway point of the run there will be [tag]softball[/tag]s set up in a row. Each kid in the relay has to run, pick up the ball, throw it to the coach standing at center court, and continue running to the opposite end of the gym and touch the wall.

Each team will have a [tag]softball coach[/tag] standing at center court to catch their team’s throws. Obviously run both teams at the same time and cheer them on. The team that finishes the relay first wins.
