I find that these softball defense drills work well in a multitude of areas. This is simple and requires the players quick reflexes and concentration.

Standing on one end of a 10-15 ft. 2 x 4 board, have your player in the defensive ready position with balls of her feet on the board.   As she shuffles down the board, she is being tossed balls. She catches one, drops it and another is tossed.

As she becomes more proficient and confident the softballs are tossed at an increasingly rapid pace.   Do this drill moving left to right, then right to left.

This drill teaches and/or enhances:
Balance & footwork
Stay low
Staying square to the ball
Softens hands
Focus on the ball
