Special thanks to Rich for sending this [tag]softball coaching tip[/tag] in. If you’ve every struggled with coming up with new ideas for [tag]softball drills and tips[/tag], you should try this out!
From Rich…
I am the President of a girls [tag]softball[/tag] little league ages 5-16. I have done a lot of batting instruction for our girls. One thing I started doing that has really increased confidence even in our young batters, is using the phrase “You own the ball – It is your ball”.
I tell them that is what I want them to think just before the pitcher delivers the ball. I reinforce this by asking them “Who owns the ball?” and making them answer ” I Do” when feeding them balls in the batting cage.
We had an expansion [tag]softball team[/tag] this year with a lot of new players. They are all hitting well. We beat a team that was undefeated the other night.
I feel mental preparation is often overlooked in [tag]softball coaching[/tag]. This has helped our team a lot.
