Take a look at these submissions from Gary and from Carey. Some great ideas for [tag]softball drills[/tag] that can work with all age groups.
From Gary…
One of the [tag]softball[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] I like to use is a tee at home plate and plastic balls.
We put the tee at home plate and have one of the coaches sit on a bucket maybe about 15 feet away.
We tell the kids to try and hit [tag]coach[/tag] on the bucket (coach sitting on the bucket rags kids ie..”common you can’t hit me”).
The kids really concentrate on going up the middle/[tag]throwing[/tag] hands out with out even knowing it.
Aloha
From Carey…
Use a large rubbermaid outdoor garbage can, tipped over at home plate facing center field.
Place the players in a line in center field, and have them throw the ball home (one at a time) trying to throw the ball into the garbage can.
End the practice with this [tag]drill[/tag], and have a reward (candy, soda, gum, etc) for the player (if any) that makes it in the garbage can.
You can decide how many times to go through the line.
