I’m often asked for suggestions for [tag]softball hitting drills[/tag]. Here’s a simple [tag]softball coaching[/tag] tip that will pay huge dividends with your team.
From Scott…
We do a [tag]softball hitting drill[/tag] where we split the team into two squads.
We play one side of the field, pitcher, two infielders, ss and 3rd of 1st and 2nd, and three outfielders, center and either two left or two right fielders.
If we’re playing the right side they have to hit to the right of second base or the hit is deemed foul. If after two fouls the batter hits a third foul she is out. If she hits fair she runs to first. Same with hits to the left field where upon hitting the ball the runner goes to third and attempts, if the ball is hit to the outfield, to return home to score.
The [tag]softball[/tag] game is quick and can be effective with as few as eight players. All participants develop a location adaptive swing and hitting strategy. Keep in mind here, we’re talking about 9-10 year olds.
