I receive many requests for [tag]softball hitting drills[/tag]. Here’s a [tag]softball drill[/tag] that I use regularly. Give this a try with your team.
The purpose of this [tag]softball[/tag] drill is to get kids to get their hands around quickly and their hips into hitting.
The batter gets into batting stance, no bat. They hold their back arm elbow bent palm facing forward about shoulder level. Another person stands about 10 ft away and soft tosses tennis balls in the pitching zone. The batter must rotate their hips quick to bring the back arm around (not reaching out with their hand to hit the softball) but getting their body around to just meet the ball with their palm of their hand teaching how to rotate hips & drive hands to ball.
