One of the areas that coaches request drills for are [tag]softball hitting lessons[/tag]. Read below for a great suggestion from Lynn on this topic.
From Lynn…
A [tag]softball[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag] I came up with is a [tag]bat control[/tag] drill used on the field.
The 20 Point [tag]Hitting[/tag] Drill
The first part of the drill has 3 bunting zones, 3B, Middle, and 1B. I use tees to divide the area on the field. Each [tag]batter[/tag] gets 3 pitches to get 3 [tag]bunts[/tag] down in each zone (possible 9 points).
Then we move the tees back to the start of the [tag]outfield[/tag] grass. They each get three pitches to hit to the correct zone (stated ahead of the pitch by the [tag]coach[/tag]). This is another 9 points if successful.
Then they get 2 hit and run [tag]swings[/tag] to finish for a possible 20 points. I set a goal for the day like 12 points. If they get it, they get out of some part of conditioning or 5 extra BP cuts, etc.
It helps the coach and the players to know who can control their bat in game situations.
