If you’re looking for fresh ideas for [tag]softball practice drills[/tag], try the one below. Your players will benefit in their baserunning skills as well as overall conditioning for the season.
I help coach [tag]softball[/tag] at the local high school, I also coach a 12u traveling softball team. We’ve only been playing fastpitch for 10 years in my area.I dearly love the game.
This is a [tag]softball drill[/tag] that I do with baserunning. I divide the team in half, then 1 team at second base, the other team at home. I stand at the pitcher’s plate. I will throw a glove up in the air when the glove hits the ground, one player from each team starts running. The next player cannot start until the runner before her has touched the base. They do this until everyone has finished.
Then when all the players from second base have reached home and home to second, we will start again. This lets everybody run all the bases. As a [tag]softball coach[/tag] I can stand in the middle and watch each player to see how they run the bases. I try to make this a fun drill and they will often ask to do this drill. You wouldn’t believe how competitive this drill is.
