I’m often asked for advice on [tag]techniques for coaching softball[/tag]. Here’s a simple softball coaching tip that will pay huge dividends with your team.
From Amy…
I coached my daughters U12 [tag]softball[/tag] team last year for the first time, and I couldn’t believe how many first-timers there were on my team.
As I would have loved to have spent as much time as I could with each girl, teaching them basics and then the pointers for each position that they were going to play, it wasn’t realistic and our first game was in 1 1/2 weeks.
I called the head varsity [tag]softball coach[/tag] and enlisted the help of the varsity girl’s team. I had each girl take the girl on my team that would play the same position, and it is amazing how they learn by watching someone else. We all took infield together- grounders to the third base varsity player and then my player stepped in and so on. They also helped critique each players batting, throwing, etc.
In just 2 days of 2 hour [tag]softball practice[/tag]s, I felt like I had a better handle on things and that we could at least be competitive for our first game. The varsity girls had so much fun, they are asking to do it again this year.
